- Open Settings
- Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Find “Control Button” or “Action Button”
- Scroll down and tap on Control Button (Apple may still call it Action Button in some regions).
- Choose a Function
- You’ll see a list of actions you can assign, such as:
- Silent Mode
- Camera (quick open)
- Flashlight
- Voice Memo
- Translate
- Magnifier
- Shortcut (run any Shortcut you’ve set up — e.g., open WhatsApp, start a workout, send an automatic text)
- Accessibility features (like AssistiveTouch, Zoom, etc.)
- You’ll see a list of actions you can assign, such as:
- Test the Button
- Once set, press the Control Button on the side of your iPhone 17 to try out the new function.
- Optional – Create Custom Shortcuts
- Open the Shortcuts app.
- Build a shortcut (like “turn on Wi-Fi, open Notes, and start dictation”).
- Go back to the Control Button settings and assign that shortcut.
- Now your button can do almost anything you want.
✅ Tip: If the button isn’t responding, make sure Settings > Accessibility > Side Button doesn’t have conflicting features enabled.
